Week 32

HER PERSPECTIVES

Best Moment: The former guest bedroom/home office is finally starting to feel like a nursery! My parents came this weekend to help move furniture, hang pictures, and finish crafts. We also got a special delivery from my dad, a.k.a. Poppy. He made a beautiful set of shelves for Peanut! And my mom, a.k.a. Nana, brought orange and green bins to fill with Peanut’s toys.

Nana also helped to make a mobile. Details to come!

Symptoms: I had a doctor’s appointment on Friday, and it was the first time I didn’t get a perfect report (aside from the false positive on my glucose test). After taking my fundal height, my doc said that I’m measuring small. (I also gained less than a pound in two weeks.) What does that mean? Well, it could mean a variety of things, but I believe the most likely is that I’m a week behind my estimated due date. I think this could be the case because both of our previous sonograms indicated that Peanut is due September 24th, not September 17th. So we’ll see what next week’s sonogram says. Yes, we’re having another one — as a precautionary measure. On the bright side, we get to see Peanut’s little face! I can’t wait to see how much he/she has changed since week 20.

But, really, does this belly not look sufficiently big to you?

(UPDATE: Happy to report that Peanut is growing right on track! More to come in our week 33 post.)

Cravings/Aversions: Peaches. They’re at their peak right now, and we’ve been taking full advantage of them. Ripe and right from the brown paper bag, in yogurt with granola sprinkled on top, and in a most delicious brown butter bar with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side.

What I Miss: Did I mention it’s been hot? And humid? Our grass is brown, and our garden is growing slowly. I miss the rain and so do our plants.

What I Can’t Wait For: Our sonogram. Obviously. I’m trying not to worry, but that’s nearly impossible to do. Oh, also, our first baby shower is next weekend! I can’t wait.

Milestones: Peanut now has fingernails, toenails, and hair. He/she is weighing in around 3.75 lbs, though we’ll get more accurate measurements next week!

HIS PERSPECTIVES

Best Moment: The nursery is starting to come together! We are doing a slight spin on a woodland creatures theme — Emily was a bit skeptical at first, but yours truly eventually won out. Just look how cute it is:

Etsy is the greatest, by the way. Check out these cool prints we found from InkTreePress:

Symptoms: Grumpy Gus has been visiting on occasion. I need to work on my work/life balance (and find more time to blog).

Cravings/Aversions: ICE CREAM! Between having my family here the other week and the hot weather, we’ve given our local frozen custard shop quite a bit of business.

What I Miss: I did not miss building those cubbies one bit. Thanks, father-in-law!

What I Can’t Wait For: It’s hard to believe that Peanut will be here next month. Where did the summer go?

  1. You look fantastic. Glad your little peanut is a healthy little peanut! He or she will have a beautiful nursery to come home to. I love all the sweet details you’ve shared.

  2. Love the dress, love the mobile, and I had a couple weeks I only gained 1/2 a pound or less during the 3rd trimester! It’s hard to want to eat that much at this point! Glad to hear it all worked out.

  3. You look beautiful and Peanut’s room is just the cutest nursery! The orange curtains are perfect and those prints make me smile. SOOOO happy for you both. Peanut will be here soon!!! xxox

  4. Oh wow, I love the little woodland creatures! Good job, Nick. (I probably would have resisted too … but clearly it is adorable.)

Emily, you look fabulous! Does that dress come in non-maternity? Ha. I love it.
