Week 19

HER PERSPECTIVE

Best Moment: Seeing all of our grandparents in a single weekend (and several other family members, too)! We enjoyed Dad’s pizza on Friday night with Grammy and Aunt Jane. On Saturday, we headed east to Lancaster to visit Grandma Martin, Aunt Vicki, and Uncle Jim. And on Sunday morning, we had Easter brunch with Grandma and Grandpa Rishel. Needless to say, Peanut got lots of love and belly rubs!

Peanut also got a very appropriate gift from my parents, a.k.a. Nana and Poppy. I’m sure he/she will be quite the little helper in the kitchen!

And Nick and I couldn’t resist purchasing our first sweet outfits for our little one.

Symptoms: Knock on wood … no headaches this week! Actually, I think I’ve settled into the second trimester and am feeling great — energetic and excited to reach the halfway point!

Cravings/Aversions: Easter dinner tasted especially good this year: two types of ham, mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, corn casserole, and my aunt’s carrot cake. I could really go for another slice (or four) of that cake.

What I Miss: Gender neutral clothing. Has this ever been available? We visited the outlets in Lancaster this week and couldn’t believe the explosions of pink and blue. Even the green and yellow outfits had flowers and cupcakes or trucks and trains. I know we’re in the minority — not wanting to know if Peanut is a boy or a girl — but we really wish there were more options for parents-to-be like us.

What I Can’t Wait For: To reach the halfway point!

Milestones: Baby’s sensory development is in full swing this week — from smell and taste to hearing to vision and touch. He/she may even be able to hear our voices, so we’ve been talking to the little Peanut daily! Speaking of the little Peanut, it would be more appropriate to call him/her an heirloom tomato this week. Weighing in at 8 1/2 ounces and measuring 6 inches, the arms and legs are also finally in proportion to the rest of the body.

HIS PERSPECTIVE

Best Moment: Thetwo types of ham, mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, corn casserole, and (auntie’s) carrot cake.” Mmmm, Easter is a close second to Thanksgiving.

Symptoms: Weight gain, although I can’t quite figure out why.

Cravings/Aversions: Seconds, please!

What I Can’t Wait For: The second ultrasound.

Milestones: We’ve got a half pound mango in there.
