HER PERSPECTIVES
Best Moment: So many good moments this week! First, we found out during our sonogram that Peanut is measuring right on track at about 4.5 pounds. In fact, my prediction that the doc may change our due date was wrong. Still no explanation as to why I gained no weight between weeks 30 and 32, but I suspect I’ll make up for it at my 34-week appointment!
We were so pleased to hear the positive report on Peanut’s growth that we decided to forgive him/her for not cooperating and giving us a good look at that little face. All we got was a foot, an ear, and a face partially hidden behind the umbilical cord and other extremities.
So we started off the week with a sonogram and ended it with my uncle’s 50th birthday, our hometown baby shower, and a first birthday party. Like I said, it was a fun week!
Symptoms: Dry eyes. So I use lubricating drops twice daily and take out my contacts well before bed time. It seems to be helping.
Cravings: My mom’s chocolate cupcakes with fluffy white frosting. Fortunately, I had my share at the baby shower!
What I Miss: My Snoogle. Allow me to explain. We limited ourselves to just one suitcase over the weekend because we suspected that we may need the extra room for things like a car seat and a high chair and a pack ‘n’ play. (Our suspicions were correct.) And so I slept without my Snoogle for the first time in at least two months. Granted I used five pillows. But it wasn’t the same.
What I Can’t Wait For: I had my first breastfeeding class this week, and I found it to be very informative and rather inspiring. It was good timing, too, following what was my least favorite of our childbirth classes thus far. I would much rather hear about bonding with our baby after birth than the complications and side effects of drugs during delivery. I’m already looking forward to next week’s class.
Milestones: At over 4 pounds and 17 inches, Peanut is running out of room! It’s obvious in the continuous shifts I feel and the occasional baby body part that causes my belly to morph into odd shapes.
HIS PERSPECTIVES
Best Moment: Two great moments this week: 1) the peace of mind after the sonogram turned out fine, and 2) visiting with family and friends who came from near and far to celebrate our little womb kicker. I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by such wonderful people.
Symptoms: I feel like such a rookie. It took me at least 15 minutes to assemble the pack ‘n’ play and another 10 minutes to figure out how to remove the car seat from the base. I have one more month to get my act together.
What I Miss: I missed the Snoogle this weekend, too. While Emily took five pillows, I was left with one lousy one.
What I Can’t Wait For: To brew the batch of pumpkin ale that I picked up from Mr. Steve’s in York. This baby’s brew should be ready shortly after our little pumpkin arrives.
Milestones: It’s down to a photo finish here, but I think Uncle Jeff is still the leader on belly girth. Speaking of Uncle Jeff, here’s his top 10 list of what not to say in the delivery room, in case you missed it:
1. Man this chair is really uncomfortable.
2. How long do you think it’ll take to get your figure back?
3. How long do you think it’ll be before we have another child?
4. Do you think we’re really ready to be parents?
5. Do you think we picked the right names?
6. That last nurse was really cute.
7. Here comes another contraction.
8. Do the contractions hurt?
9. Well it looks like this is gonna take a while, do you mind if I go get something to eat.
10. Do you know the couple in the next room came in an hour ago and already had their baby.
So exciting! I love Nick’s list at the end 🙂
AW! Look at that sweet baby!!!!
The top 10 is hilarious! glad to hear everything is going well!
Ahhh it’s getting so close! And you look great! Won’t be too much longer now. 🙂
That list…lol. Sounds like things are going great! We’re thinking about y’all!
You look fantastic! Wish I had looked so cute and tiny at 33 weeks! And that is a great list!
I don’t have kiddos yet but am laughing out loud at the list of what not to say in the delivery room. Hilarious! And, you look great in that pink dress! I hope I look like this when the time comes.
omg Nick those are HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!! You need to get yourself a “What to expect as she’s expanding” book. It is FULL of awesome advice like that.
