I spent last weekend in Hoboken with Nick. It was my first trip there in several weeks — we’ve been busy! We recently spent a weekend in DC, a night in Lancaster, Easter in Bethlehem, and a day in Arlington. Oh, and we’ve been playing host and hostess in State College — Nick’s brother and sister one weekend, and my sister and her boyfriend another weekend. Whew! We were ready for a fun night out in Manhattan!
On Saturday we had dinner at Hell’s Kitchen in the NYC neighborhood of the same name. The house margaritas were tasty, and we really enjoyed our shared entrĂ©e of tiger shrimp, julienned vegetables, sweet plantains, and other yummy goodness. (Though we regretted not ordering the crispy corn tortillas and homemade guacamole.)
After dinner we headed to Houndstooth Pub in Midtown to celebrate the MBA graduation of Nick’s boss. It was great to finally meet his colleagues — they’re all our age, and so much fun! The frequently asked question of the night was, “When are you moving to Jersey?” I politely dodged the topic because, of course, the hopeful answer is, “Never.” But I just didn’t think the urbanites would understand my (and Nick’s) love of central Pennsylvania.
On occassion we like to get dolled up and sip cocktails and eat equisite food in fancy warehouse restaurants, but give us wings, burgers, and pints of Otto’s beer, and we’re home.
